About Rice
The Rice Valley Wilderness has a total of 41,776 acres and is managed by the BLM's Palm Springs-South Coast Field Office. In 1994 the Rice Valley Wilderness became part of the now over 109 million acre National Wilderness Preservation System. All ramps are free to use. Ramp surfaces include 9 paved concrete ramps suitable for larger motorized vessels, 3 gravel ramps, 6 carry-in launches for kayaks and canoes. 16 have designated parking (12 with trailer parking). Ramps are managed by City of Brainerd, DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife, DNR Division of Parks and Trails, and others.
