About Pelican
Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is situated in the Indian River Lagoon estuary, which runs 156 miles down Florida’s eastern coastline. Thousands of species inhabit the brackish Indian River Lagoon, including the federally protected green sea turtle, Florida manatee, and wood stork, as well as state protected threatened species such as the reddish egret and tricolor heron. All ramps are free to use. Ramp surfaces include 12 paved concrete ramps suitable for larger motorized vessels, 2 gravel ramps, 2 carry-in launches for kayaks and canoes. 1 ramp is ADA accessible, and 15 have designated parking (15 with trailer parking). Ramps are managed by City of Breezy Point, City of Orr, Crow Wing County, and others.
