About Moose

Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1937 to protect migratory birds. The Refuge has two divisions, the 20,532-acre Baring Division about 3 miles southwest of Calais, Maine and the 8,664-acre Edmunds Division about 3 miles south of Dennysville, Maine, directly adjacent to Dennys and Whiting Bays along U. All ramps are free to use. Ramp surfaces include 7 paved concrete ramps suitable for larger motorized vessels, 1 gravel ramp. 8 have designated parking (7 with trailer parking). Ramps are managed by Clearwater County, DNR Division of Parks and Trails, Itasca County, and others.
