About Long Lake

-Theodore RooseveltLong Lake National Wildlife Refuge was once home to Plains Indians and early European settlers who camped and hunted waterfowl and other game along the shores of Long Lake. The Refuge was established on February 25, 1932 by President Herbert Hoover to provide sanctuary and habitat for migratory birds that use the Central Flyway migration corridor. Ramp surfaces include 11 paved concrete ramps suitable for larger motorized vessels, 9 gravel ramps, 8 carry-in launches for kayaks and canoes. 2 ramps are ADA accessible. Ramps are managed by Chippewa County Parks Dept., County Forestry Dept., Easement, and others.
