About Black River

The 1,200-acre Black River Recreation Area is managed to provide low-impact recreation and environmental education opportunities while maintaining a healthy river system and riparian habitat. This river corridor acts as a transition zone between the limestone foothills of the Guadalupe Escarpment and the southern gypsum soils to the east. Ramp surfaces include 7 paved concrete ramps suitable for larger motorized vessels, 14 carry-in launches for kayaks and canoes. 2 ramps are ADA accessible. Ramps are managed by Black River Falls Parks Dept., Black River State Forest, Clark County Forestry & Parks, and others.
