About Augusta

The Augusta Canal helped usher the Industrial Revolution into the American South. Built in 1845 as a source of power, water, and transportation, the canal today is the only fully intact American industrial canal in continuous operation. All ramps are free to use. Ramp surfaces include 1 paved concrete ramp suitable for larger motorized vessels, 2 carry-in launches for kayaks and canoes. 3 have designated parking. Ramps are managed by Cottonwood County, DNR Division of Parks and Trails.
